Table of Contents

Table of Contents is a list of titles of the parts of a book or document, organized in the order in which the parts appear.
My partner Juan and I decided that for our Table of Contents or TOC pages (2), we wanted there to be an advertisement and/or objects that are discussed in our magazine displayed on the left side of the left page, and the right side of the right page of our two page spread. Therefore, putting the titles in the middle of the two page spread and the images and/or ads on the outside of the two page spread. Also, we have another option of just doing a one page TOC, And the next page be an ad, with pops of color on both pages, but more so on the page with the ad (right page). We decided that those two options would be the best way for our magazine to acheive the 'clean aesthetic' we are going for. We want a white base with bright colors popping off of the clean background. For example, a white base, with bright red sunglasses on top is very visually appealing. In a nutshell, our TOC will be simple, clean, organized, yet have pops of color, all at once.

Similar to these two Table of Contents....but original, of course. :)

Research

Teen magazines are magazines aimed at female teenage readers. They usually consist of gossip, news, fashion tips, and interviews and may include posters, stickers, small samples of cosmetics or other products and inserts
The teen magazine industry is overwhelmingly female-oriented. Several publications, such as Teen Ink and Teen Voices, cater to both male and female audiences, although publications specifically targeting teenage boys are rare. I plan on making my magazine as unisex as possible, however there will probably be more feminine aspects in the magazine, but for the most part my publication will be all inclusive.
Along with most mainstream magazines, teen magazines are typically sold in print at supermarkets, pharmacies, bookstores and newsstands.

First Photoshoot

Today was my first day of taking photos for my magazine, I took photos from 3-5 p.m. at my nearest Town Center. Today gave me the opportunity to experiment with various locations, poses, and camera techniques. The photos are meant to represent current teen style. The flashy red sunglasses and the Gingham printed crop top are two things that are extremely trendy at the moment. My magazine entails all things popular and trendy. I took pictures alternating between my iPhone 7 Plus and my friend's Canon Rebel t5i. Both cameras have amazing capabilities. I liked the airbrushed look that the Canon gave the photos, and how the lighting could easily be adjusted. I did not like however, that it was hard to get the camera to focus on my subject (aka, my friend). I appreciated how the iPhone camera has a portrait mode, which allows for depth effect, but I did not like how the phone enhances any blemishes on the subject. Overall today was pretty successful. Not only did I figure out how to take amazing photos on either camera, but I also learned when the natural lighting is the best, and which places have the best natural lighting. Taking photos today not only gave me inspiration for future photo shoots, but most importantly, I got some pretty incredible pictures to display in the magazine, that I am really proud of. Here are a few....
